APPRECIATE

Needless to say that we’re all disturbed by the recent events taking place in America. Even though these events are taking place here, they are having an implication world over. Looking at the larger picture, it’s not about who you are or where you come from or what color your skin is or what your religion is. Really. It’s about being fair. It’s about being human. It’s about doing what’s right. Whether you are yourself an immigrant or your parents were immigrants or their parents were, these events will not be forgotten easily. They have gone down in history and sadly, there’s nothing we can do about it. In all these uncertain times, there is one silver lining for all of us who are not directly affected by this – we can learn to appreciate what we have so much more. It feels like I could wake up tomorrow and world may not be the same again and that’s literally very possible. It makes me realize that nothing in life is permanent and it’s important that we value what we have today before it’s too late. There are things that are in our control and there are things that are not in our control – we can’t change what may or may not happen tomorrow, but we can choose to control our attitude toward all this. We can choose to stay positive and look at the good in all of this knowing that we’ll make it through stronger no matter what. We can choose to spread more love and joy and truly show the world that love trumps hate. We can choose to stand up for what’s right in whatever little ways we can. We can choose to empathize with those who are going through tough times. We can choose to have faith over fear. We can choose to not let all these events make us more cynical because this world is way too beautiful to let a few people bog us down.
